Angled down or Straight Scout Platform?

Angled is better for leaning.
Straight is better for sitting.
I don’t one-stick, so I’m not sure about that.
Straight is easier to go number one.

I have a straight scout on my climbing stick and I have an angled solo scout for SRT climbs. I’m equally comfortable on both. I spend 5-6 hours at hunting height on most of my sits. It would seem reasonable that the angled scout would be more comfortable for leaning, but truthfully I haven’t noticed any ill effects from the straight scout. The heel of my boot catches the edges and my feet lie flat across the straight scout, when I’m leaning. Intrinsically, a comfortable leaning angle occurs that’s appropriate for the straight scout.

The one benefit that I have experienced from the straight scout is when I move around to the side of the tree, and have one foot on the scout, the flat scout provides me more stability. In this situation the foot I have on the scout can lie flat without me having to hyperextend my ankle in such a way to keep my foot flat and stable. The Lacrosse boots I wear aren’t super flexible when doing that, so it makes me feel more stable. That said, I haven’t had any “issues” with the slanted scout when I’m on one foot off to the side though. It’s probably all in my head, but it is what it is.

Either way you go, you’ll be fine, I think. The coating on the scout is very abrasive and provides excellent grip.

I have the angled Scout on my Helium and like it a lot. I thought I was more of a leaner but have been sitting more lately. It works ok both ways for me but I have never tried the flat scout and I'm sure it would be better for shooting around the tree like @ShooterMike said.

I use a small Nuttella jar to go number one in. I got tired of lowering my pack into the puddle. With the jar, I can toss the urine away from my tree and I can fill the jar while leaning.
