Any elk hunters out there hunting from a saddle?

I'm headed to Idaho this September for the archery elk hunt. Has anyone hunted for elk from a saddle?

I can't talk any of my local buddies into committing to an elk hunt. But one of the things I like about saddlehunting and how the technology is evolving, is a saddlehunter could pack along a minimalist saddle and minimalist climbing system to get elevated when other hunters would not.

True that!, I will have my spikes and saddle with me for sure just in case I find a secluded wallow.

I am planning on committing a week of elk season to sitting in my saddle this year.

I will be this fall.... just trying to figure if the pine sap on equipment is going to be worth it? Extra lineman, tether and sticks. I hunt one with a homemade ladder packed in a few miles, has worked well the last two seasons, but multiple trails to cover you sacrifice a few. Hoping to remedy that.

Pine sap out there washes off, we use limbs 98% of time. Screw in steps when needed.

Apologies for reviving an old thread, but figured I would ask on here rather than PM. @Scoutman do you have any strategy tips for where you choose to saddle hunt? Well used trails? Water sources? Have you found calling to be effective from up in the tree? I spent a couple days so far in the saddle and heard far off bugles and realized I wasn't close enough to the elk.
