Any seen or used these aiders?

The problem is coming down. Going up you can grab any aider and position it for your foot before stepping up on it. What happens when you step on and off these? That zip tie sure ain’t gonna just stay there like that.
That metal thing is just going to be falling down all the time, and/or getting bent. Generally, metals are either heavy, malleable or both, but feel free to point out a metal I’m not familiar with. Zip ties will spring back and are light. If worried about one bending or falling down put 15 of them on there.
Or just get a Maxx aider. I use none of those things, have no skin in the game. Just my .02

Disclaimer: all we have to go on is a single image, with no description of what’s being offered or how it operates. Based on that, I assume this sort of unsubstantiated dialogue is what is being asked for?

But, to elaborate, if the point of the design is to keep the aider away from the tree so you can insert your foot, it needs to then get out of the way once your foot is in so you can dig your toe into the tree- and then promptly and reliably spring back to starting position. Otherwise it needs to be able to support your weight while digging into the tree for you. I can’t tell how this could do either of those things.

the zip tie is only for when your foot isnt in it. it bends when your foot is in it and pops back when its not to keep it away from the tree. Its def not the best option but a good diy to use.
That is an interested "hack" that I might just try with my EWO Ultimaider. A few think the photo I incuded was just the device, while I thought it came with the aider as a unit. No matter, the forethought is what I hoped would stimulate some discussion and promote idea sharing.

I do like the zip tie idea. Ever since I changed up my boos I feel better now using the two step aider for the bottom stick and single for the others.

I have the amazon (zivoxia) Maxx Aider copy. It does flex a little and is a little larger footprint to carry (5.5 oz.), but it keeps the aider away from the tree. I was struggling getting my foot into the aider when descending, and this has helped.

I have glow-in-the-dark tape already. I may be going to a two-tether system and the only thing I don't like about plain aiders is hunting and fishing for the correct foothold while both climbing and descending.

There was a discount coupon on Amazon to knock the price down even lower if you got two of them. Done. Be here Saturday.

OK! I finally got my butt out into the woods this morning!

I attached both amsteel loops to the prusik knot of a simple girth-hitched tether w/ a carabiner. Even though it spun with a mind of its own, the step worked fantastically no matter if the teeth were facing the tree or not. I think I'll find something soft and fuzzy to wrap it up in so it doesn't make noise when tapping against the tree while moving the tether up and down.

This was only my second attempt with the 2TC method and I like what I'm experiencing. I know I'll get more efficient at it.

I'm REALLY excited to know I can get WAY back into the public land areas carrying A LOT less weight!

Did you weigh that setup yet?

Nope. I always carry two tethers with me no matter what climbing method I'm using.
( Summit OpenShot, 2006 or 2007 Lone Wolf hang on with their sticks, or 4 Hawk sticks with Saddle )

So my turkey vest with all my gear, water & food weighs close to 18lbs and I'll add this plastic step to the mix, while eliminating ALL the weight associated with the other climbing methods.

Sure but wouldn’t you pack a third tether or LB if you’re doing 2TC?

I guess I’m lost about why you can get away without an extra tether with 2TC that you feel you need in any other method?
He's right. Kinda. I was always carrying two tethers for my body harness applications. One always lived in my turkey vest while the other lived on the lineman's loops. For years I did that so I would never forget a tether.

Then I started looking into the Guido's Web way back when. ( 2018 )
That is when I discovered this dump. LOL! I made an account and started reading.

I lost interest for reasons - probably having to do with work and dirt biking distractions - and never made a post here.

Fast forward to 2021 or 22 and I'm giving this place another look. I start watching more and more videos until I stumble across a saddle hunting introductory video sponsored by The Hunting Public and... Tetherd??? I think??
The guy in the tree made everything look really easy and one of the techniques demonstrated was the 12:00 shot ( as you're facing the tree ).
He grabbed the tether, pulled himself close to the tree, tucked his right arm between the tree and tethered bridge, and spin around on the platform. That puts the tether and bridge over your right shoulder and keeps you tucked to the tree while you draw and aim at what WAS your 12:00, but is now your 6:00. Make sense? I'm sure you all know this, but it was a revelation for me. Here's why.

When I'm using my body harness for my OpenShot climber or Lone Wolf Alpha Assault hang-on, I now use the ‘extra’ tether for the same method described above so that 6:00 shot is now possible with those hunting methods.

I do have a bunch of tethers, so it’s nothing to add a third for whatever reason.

Most guys add back-up equipment because in the event of an oversight or failure – One is none. Two is One. Etc.
