Anyone fasten the cam to the stick or platform?

So the number one place I seem to make noise on a stick or platform is the cam clanking on the metal. Anyone welded or some other way fastened the cam on the post? That way you can't bang it? I know there is metal free attachment methods. Just curious if anyone tried it.

I've thought about it but that's as far as I've got with the idea. It's important to keep the strap in- line isn't it?

You've seen me tie the timber hitch for the platform first hand. I've done that with a single length of amsteel for 2 seasons now with absolutely no issues. I absolutely hate the cam strap buckles . . . I'm too clumsy to keep from banging that buckle off of something at least once setting up.

It's was more of just a thought. But your right @Weldabeast I forgot they are different metals.
There is lots of good options for metal free attachment these days. I like your method @boyne bowhunter I just haven't got any Amsteel to play with it yet. It was just a thought I had.
@Weldabeast do you think the cheap steel sticks are to thin to weld the cam to? I can't think of reason for doing it on those. But just curious now.

I don't think it's a good idea even if it is doable... Read about "heat affected zone".... If u insisted I would see if the buckle can be totally disassembled prior to welding.... If u heated the spring to much u change the temper on it

@MattMan81 .....the timber hitch works with any rope as far as I know. 6mm accessory cord is what I use to attach my stirrups with a timber hitch.

Now I need to experiment and see if 1"webbing works too

I was helping my buddy pull a stump at his property and tied a timber hitch around the stump with some old steel winch cable and then hooked the other end to the 7.3 superduty 4x4 who proceeded to snatch on that thing...4 or 5 full throttle snatches and the "knot" didn't budge.....I have used it as an anchor point while trimming trees and seen it accept huge shock loads when the branch I'm cutting falls

I just took the cam off the strap, and then used the strap like a rope mod.

Lose the Cam strap completely. I recommend a Ultimate Stick attachment but tie it trucker hitch style
This^^^ watch some DIY videos on splicing amsteel, or support your local maker here. There are so many great ways to do what you want, but most of the preferred ways will begin with losing that cam buckle.

You'd be better off using a piece of inner tube or something similar to cushion the cam buckle. Also probably wrapping the post within the arc of movement of the buckle. Or carrying the straps separately from the sticks so they don't have the opportunity to clank in the first place. Of course, all this assumes that you won't replace your cam buckles with another attachment option.
