Anyone just not like sticks?

I have preferred climbing methods, they are just not sticks. Seems like so many guys love sticks, but they never hit home with me. Feeling a bit like an oddball.
I've never tried sticks. When I changed methods I found WE steps and never looked back.

I keep trying to convince myself to love sticks but I hate carrying them, unpacking them and especially repacking them at the end of the night. So basically it's never going to happen unfortunately.

What's everyone using on public besides sticks if you can't penetrate the bark? WE Stepps? SRT? Single steps (like Squirrel steps, Ameristeps, Cranford's)? Sticks and WE Stepps just seem like the best options here if you can't preset.
SRT.

How does everyone prevent the sticks from clanking together? I always had a few clanks here and there.

I feel the same way. I was sure I would love the LWCG minis....not so much.

Not a fan of sticks. Prefer squirrel steps for ease of packing, setup, flexibility on the tree. Or bolts when acceptable.

I bought some LW sticks last year when I was in a pinch and needed something quick to use to get up and hunt from my hang on stand. After switching to a saddle I have only used them for one preset at some private land. I tried one sticking with them and man what a pain. I bought some WE stepps, Perch, and the one step aider. Used those several times and after getting the cam over method down I really like them. I'm going to use the K&S method this year after testing it. I want to buy some of the short heliums to try but I'm waiting to get the package deal with there new stand too for all day sits.

One stick. No packing or unpacking no clanking. One thing to carry one thing to focus on. Climb any height any where and it’s legal

I one stick because I hate multiple sticks

I have considered it. I picked up some spurs and can use them everywhere I hunt currently but if that were to change or other opportunities arise I'd probably go that route.

If I EVER try sticks again, it will be one sticking with the most rock solid double step there is at the time. Currently I believe this to be Beast Sticks.

I’ve tried other methods and always come back to sticks because of fiddle factor. Biggest factor is how you carry them in it seems. To each their own though. Because I’ve read guys not liking sticks because of fiddle factor too. :tearsofjoy:

Fiddle factor is definitely subjective. I'm reminded of this every time I see some of my buddies' wives :)

I tried w.e. Two different sets. Still went back to strap on steps. I rode one down a tree that I didnt have on just right. Not for me.

I'm the opposite. That's why there's a flavor for everyone. I've tried pretty much everything out there and I keep coming back to my 3 cut Heliums and CAYG aider. Bolts and spikes are out of contention for me due to public land rules. Couldn't get Jim Stepps to work on every tree and the knaider deal is insanity. One sticking and rope climbing are both a PITA and too much movement. Don't feel comfortable climbing strap-on steps. Eagerly awaiting anti gravity device.

Jim Stepps are good but I prefer the hawk helium’s with a rope aider. What is a QAYG aider?

I have yet to use sticks for saddle hunting. I have used (4) LW sticks and LW assault in previous seasons and could never get a method down that was smooth enough. packing them up with the buckles was a pain and time-consuming. I eventually just stowed the straps in my pack and re-applied them before my next hunt. I'm fortunate to be hunting true hardwoods in New England, so straight trees are everywhere. For my first season, I'm using a modified Viper climbing platform. Next season I plan on checking out a few different climbing methods that do not involve sticks.

The EWO stick is just as good with no holes
