Wanting to camo my sticks to blend in better…I am weird about blending in - no bright colors or anything that sticks out. Anyone use camo spray paint and have any reactions from deer? I figure if I let them dry for a week should be good regarding smell.

Lol - I do shower and roll around in the leaves before I hunt.

This one time I took a guy from California who had never hunted before and he asked if he should paint his face, I said yea you can if you want sometimes I do. I show up and he has completely caked every exposed area of his skin in about a half inch of clay mud.

@Hunter260 - Reminds me of a Seinfeld episode - being from NJ, maybe @redsquirrel can relate :grinning:

I personally did paint mine. I used a sponge, cut it into smaller squares and dabbed green, black, and tan. i think they turned out decent.

Did i need to, probably not
Was i bored and wanted something to do, absolutely

I use camo vet wrap or black heat-shrink-tubing, but that is mostly just to quiet them down so they don't make so much noise. Takes a bit of the factory glare off, too. Sticks are "only" 20" long - and strapped to the tree they blend in pretty well with all the other sticks in the woods and in with the tree. I don't think it's important to paint climbing sticks so they blend in any better.

Kind of the same - I tend to do stuff in garage to do stuff. I bought a camo tree bark stencil and painted using brown, grey and green. However, I am liking the tape idea now to quiet them.

I always spray paint my stuff with camo paint to dull it down I think it works and gives me confidence. I’m primarily a one sticker but I traded for some nice sticks this year and rather then vet wrapping four whole sticks or stealth stripping them, I sprayed truck bed liner on them, four coats over the course of several hours and let that completely cure for a day or so. Then I did a top coat of OD green, tan and brown regular camo dull spray paint. The bed liner paint has a urethane base that is almost somewhat rubbery and it really, surprisingly quiets them down considerably. You still have to be careful but the clanging is now a dull thud much like a fully stealth stripped piece.

I painted my Sticks about a month ago, mainly because I took all the hardware off them to inspect for any wear or rust on the hardware and I disliked the original LoneWolf color.
I painted them dark gray first, then added black stripes. Then I used a sponge cut into different sizes to apply tan, brown and green colors.

Looks good. What do the sponge pieces look like? Does their shape matter?

I bought some sea sponge from the craft department of Walmart. I just cut a couple different sizes nothing special. The main thing is just different patterns.... and remember the camouflage is mainly for us and not the deer. But it is pretty
