Wondering if it would be strong enough as opposed to the 1.5 that a lot of guys are using?

Sure it would. You see how much we are drilling , milling out. Do you already have a stock pile of 1"?

Well actually ended up throwing them together after I posted that came out pretty good still have to drill out the stops and drill out some teeth for grip on the stops but not bad for first build making standoffs was a little time-consuming though
