Has anyone used one of these for repelling before? I find it strange I’ve never heard of one if they actually work.

There was another thread on that a month or two ago. Personally, I don't see the point of the multitude of "specialty" figure 8 type devices for our typical uses. The basic figure 8 is already such an elegant and useful piece of gear for rappelling. If people are going to be rappelling either very long distances or with heavy loads (rescue work), then I get it. But otherwise, I don't think you can beat the OG.

I agree just watch the sight quite a bit and hadn’t seen anyone talk about it and found it strange. Guys seem to use literally everything on the market and this seemed very simplistic for what it does and hadn’t seen a convo about it. Must have missed the other thread. I’m looking to try one sticking so this popped up while searching means of repelling. Don’t wanna jump into hundreds of dollars if I don’t know if I’ll even wanna do it in the end. Figure 8 is tried and true but for same price basically within a few dollars are a ton of options. I looked a basic 8, rescue 8, a piranha, a mammut nano I believe and a bunch of other stuff. Hell even watched a video a while back where a guy used just his beaner and a knot. Like everything else saddle wise there’s an option to fit everyone’s wants and needs!!!

I bought one, works great so far. I like it better than a figure 8. Easier to repel with. It may replace my safeguard. Lighter and quieter. More testing is needed this summer.

Thanks for the info!!! Not that it’s much of an investment to test it out but good to hear someone who’s tried it.

@Pathfinder - Here’s the prior thread on the Figure 9 descender - includes a YouTube video link by H2 Saddles, if interested in their initial impressions…

Thanks for the video link. Nice to see someone my size try this product out rather then a 5ft tall 90lbs women in a totally controlled setting. I think if you already have a figure 8 it’s not worth the money but if you don’t have a repelling system purchased yet then this is yet another option out there. I liked the look of the piranha v2 also but seems it’s being recalled
