Has anyone ever flown with one of these? I’m needing a new 2 Shotgun Case for an upcoming trip. I rarely fly with a gun. I usually fly with Archery equipment. That being said I don’t want to spend SKB money on a shotgun case. The local Harbor freight has these in stock, and they seem sturdy. What’s y’all’s impression when flying with these.

I have looked at them but I don’t have any experience using one. RTIC has a hard case that is a little more money but known quality.

I have one and it's held up well for normal use, but not sure if I'd fly with it the way they toss stuff around and drop stuff off the elevators

Ive seen an SKB single rifle case (one of those you can tell a rifle is definitely in it) get handed to a buddy by the oversized baggage handler completely destroyed. Both sides had holes in them and were cracked all the way down. It contained a Sako 85 with a Zeiss that was sitting on top. Notice I sad was…the mounts were broken off. SKB paid for a new scope, and the airline paid for it too. The sad part was it was a gift from my clients son who had passed away the yr prior. It broke my clients heart. This was ATL by the way after a 2 plane flight out of West TX. If they want to tear it up they will.

Ive left an Rtic on the front deck of my boat, and watched it skip down the road while doing 50. There was nothing wrong with that joker when I got it back in the boat except for some road rash. It was latched, and the beer was still cold. I didn’t realized they made one, but I know what I’m getting.

I travel all over the country with firearms and bows via airline.

I use the Pelican Bow case and have never had an issue with anything inside the case.

I have always used Pelican cases for firearms but have just migrated to the Magpul rifle cases and will never use the Pelican cases again for firearms.

The Apache case will be just fine for a single trip. If you are worried about your firearms being "loose" in the Apache case and you can't cut the foam to fit, just take your hunting clothing or any clothing you are traveling with and wrap your firearms with it. If that can't work, get some towels from the closet and use them as extra padding. I have seen people take bubble wrap and ise that to fill space also on cases that are loose. I usually just use my hunting clothing, socks, gloves, jackets or whatever to put in there. It also saves space in your other luggage as well.

Make sure you have the proper amount of locks for the Apache case as well. Do not bother locking it until after the check in agent says to lock it up, otherwise you end up unlocking it right there at check in only to re lock it a few seconds later. Try not to have a lock that takes a key and go for the combo lock option instead. Many men have lost the single key for their cases while traveling. The combo lock is in your brain. Nothing to lose there, right?

Also, a hard golf case. Guns go in a soft case, surrounded with clothes. Airport gorillas don’t see the gun case and stealing fingers aren’t tempted.

Great idea
