I cut my API sticks to 24 inches. Do I leave the button where it is or move it up a bit? I tried them and they seem ok.
 
Where do you put the button on your cut down sticks? Trying to get a measurement for the best and safest spot.
 
Cut sticks to 24". cut from the bottom of the stick not the top. then flip the top step so it is now the bottom step. mount button in hole that middle step was mounted to. then drill a new hole for the top step 1" or so from the top of the stick ( which used to be the bottom). works perfectly and you can do it from start to finish in less than 10 minutes.
