Saddle should be here in a week or two. Anybody ever use the API sticks from Cabela's. If so, do you use them standard or with mods? What mods if so?

There great sticks. I have a set with single step aiders sewn to each bottom step and some camo paint. Enter API sticks in the site search and you will find lots of information on the sticks. Try poor mans beast stick thread to find modded API sticks.

Great information! Thank you very much!

Are they cut down? Assuming you drilled all the holes?

They are cut to 24, 22inch step. That’s all preference based on your comfort. Yes I drilled and countersink them all, good but if work, I wouldn’t try it without a drill press. Saves 3.5 oz per stick. Also, if you switch to lone wolf standoffs it saves an additional 3 oz per stick. Aider adds 2oz. I didn’t weigh the daisy Amsteel as it is probably 10ths of an oz

Can't beat the price for sure, but they are heavy. I pickup up a couple sets last year and only keep them around for my daughter to use as she can't use my custom sticks. The steps are heavy, the standoffs are too short and don't get your feet far from the tree, and they rotate causing the steps to loosen up with one use. Good starter or backup set though.

I just traded for 8 of the API doublesteps to put on my cut down LW's... Also 24" w 22" step. The single's on them now are okay but i think the double steps are going to be exactly what i want in a stick. Cant wait to slap them together!. I also do the bicycle tube mod on the sticks and buckles...nice cheap way to deaden them up w/o adding too much weight. @shwacker they are some sweet sticks...I like how you did those aiders too! Nice Job

Been running mine since Sept.. for me there isnt an issue with foot clearance while climbing, but I have a size 10.5/11 .No issues with the stand offs loosening either & I check those religiously.

FYI- I am looking to split a set if anyone is interested. I would like 1 more but don’t need another full set. PM if interested.

Thank you everybody for the photos, advice and recommendations. I just purchased my 3 pack today. Cabela's has them on sale $80 and additional 10% off today only. Should be here in two days. I plan to dip mine and will be sure to upload photos when complete with mods and all. Now just waiting on the saddle.

I picked up a set but haven't use them yet. Since I'm 6'3', I removed the middle step to save some weight and did not cut them down. I also added an aider on the first step and may add one to the second. They pack pretty well but I wouldn't say they "lock" together. They are heavier than the Lone Wolfs I used to have but I like the double steps much better. I also added some daisy chains from Eastern Woods (awesome product!).

That's a BIG step!

Ouch.. I’m thinking about cutting mine down to avoid snags walking in, but like Ernie said on the Wired To Hunt saddle round table, I have the inseam of a beagle.. so I might be needing another set of sticks anyway if I do that.. lol !!
