Archery in flooded areas question

I find myself in this place often as well @Weldabeast since I hunt in NE Florida also. I just lay it in the water and pull it up. When I get home take a little barricade on a q-tip and dab the screws. My treat my gear with care but realize my “tools” are not made of glass or paper. If my bow getting wet means I’m in the right spot then wet it is.

I'm hard headed I guess...I'll carry these couple extra items if I think my area will be flooded out....the process I described was easy enough and didnt add more than 5 minutes to my climbing/descent

Let's say u are hunting flooded area...now u found the tree and it time to climb....where and how to put your bow out of the water? I don't like the idea of carrying it with me. I can't screw anything into the tree. Can't count on all trees having lower branches to hang the bow off of.

I thinking paracord that can be girth hitch to the opposite side of the trunk I would be climbing on. Small prusik and some kind of hook to hang the bow. Attach pull up rope and go up the tree. Hopefully it would be easy enough to bet the bow off the hook...pull up and hunt. To go down I thinking a paracord pull down rope that I would clip onto the backside of the tree off the rappel rope girth hitch with a wide mouth biner. Prusik and small biner on the other end. Look down and visually see the the lower prusik and biner is a good height...pull back up and then relower with the bow. I trying to keep the bow on the opposite side of the tree I climbing just in case I fall...I don't want to hit the bow or especially the broadheads on my arrows.

I still have to try my idea but also seeing if anybody else figured it out yet. Thanks for any ideas
What climbing method?

Use this at the base, same way I use it at hunting height...

Tie your line onto the top cam of your bow or sling of your firearm. When you pull it up, it should come right up off of the hook.

For the climb up take a piece of paracord and loop it to the limb of your bow and hang it on your first step and then simply pull up when you get up there. If not using steps do a highway mans hitch and tie it to the tree and take the release side of the paracord up with you and pull it loose when you get up there, you will just have to pull quickly so it’s doesn’t drop down when you release it.

On the way down have double the length in paracord, if a branch is around just put a highway mans hitch in it and pull the slack line when you get down to release it once you have bow in hand. If no branches do the same thing on the backside of the tree, loop the string around the tree with a highways man hitch and hang it above the water and pull the release side when you get down.

I ended up with a hook like that also...I was worried it wouldnt come off the hook easily but worked good on my handful of practice climbs ....what is ur process for lowering back down?

Oh, I never said anything about getting it back down successfully...

Thinking about it a little deeper, if you tie a length of para cord around the base of the tree with a loop in it, run the para cord thru the loop to your bow so it’s held up with the highway mans hitch but looped thru so as you pull it up and the para cord is run thru that loop. So you will climb with two ends of the para cord running a double line up. When lowering it have a simple bungy s hook tied into the rope lower than the bow, as you lower the bow the other end of the para cord running thru the loop will catch the s hook as you lower/pull the other end of the rope back up.... it looks good in my head... not sure if I explained it well.

1 thing I noticed with my practice climbs was having the second pull down/bow holder rope helps with stubborn rappel ropes that hang up in the tree...having that second rope to pull from a different angle is helpful

Maybe you could weld some thing like the realtree ez long arm to go on a strap so you have a bigger target to drop it back down on?

If u out at the bar and I.see a sweet honey walk up and ask her if she wants to go out for pizza and sex...when she says no u say in a surprised voice with a mischievous smile , what, u don't like pizza?!

That 1 works 50% of the time, everytime ..as u parking the beef bus in tuna town u can thank ur imaginary friend...old weldabeast
