I have been shooting a whisker biscuit rest for about 20 years. I just got a new bow last year and I’m having trouble getting a decent group. My insert on the rest is about a year old. I’m getting very inconsistent arrow flight. I’m looking at the qad hunter and the ripcord code red. Both are around the same price. Input on these two rests is appreciated.

QAD Hunter has a reputation of bounce back. go with the Ripcord Code Red. I had that on my Triax last year and didn't have any issues. If you want to save some money get an NAP Apache or NAP Nighthawk. Those two rests are bombproof and are my go to hunting rest, and have been for many years. If you are deadset on a rest that can be cocked/decocked go with the QAD HDX or HHA Virtus.

3x for the HDX. I would spring for the HDX over the hunter model. Only issue I have with them is the fickle felt patches that come with the rest. I tied my felt on this year, as I like to hunt in inclement weather.

Get the QAD HDX. Spend a little more and don't have to worry about it. They are bomb proof.

I’m looking at the AAE DOA rest. I found one on clearance for $85. It’s pink but I’m comfortable with my sexuality. I had a qad Hunter years ago and didn’t care for it. It was noisy.

Ive had 2 of the QAD hunter rest, the cheaper one, go bad on me. I bought QAD HDX and really like it. And it has a lifetime warranty. Worth the extra $$ IMO.

I think I’m going to order the HHA Virtus. It seems like a good one according to everything I’ve read on it. I was set on the AAE but the HHA looks easier to tune and a bit more durable. Decisions Decisions.

I wouldn't waste your time with the Hunter rest. It came on my Hoyt Charger and I was grouping all over the place until I noticed that I was having fletching contact. The launcher would bounce back up and cause contact. I prefer a limbdriven rest, specifically the Trophy Taker Smackdown Pro. Don't have to worry about timing issues. Just tie the cord to the bottom limb.

Just a tip I have used for a few seasons on the QAD I never liked the factory pads. They always wore out very quickly and I had them wear right through in season so when I drew back in the field it squeaked. Mostly my fault for not checking it. But anyway I bought a large roll of moleskin two years ago. Super soft felt like material with a sticky side. Easy to cut the strips you want and you can keep a couple pre cut in your pack in case you need it. It lasts longer than the stock stuff and one roll should last a lifetime. I like to cut it wide enough to just wrap around itself and I put a drop of superglue on the overlap to hold in place. Works great for me.

I've been using a nap apache for the last few seasons I really like it, had no problems. It replaced a qad ultra rest that sounded like a 22 on release, I know that's not the rests fault but where the bow tuned best the arm hit the shelf on release

I'm with buffalobill, I switched to a limb driven rest a few years ago after using whisker biscuits, ripcord ace and qad drop aways..
Aside from the fact that they are the easiest drop away rest to set up they are absolutely bullet proof, I have had the same trophy taker smack down pro on my past 3 bows that have thousands of shots between them all with not a single issue, I have never ever been able to say that about any other drop away rest I have owned.

10 minutes to set up. HHA VIRTUS. I’m going shooting this evening to dial it in. I walk back tune at 40 yards. I just put the EZV sight back on also. For some reason I can shoot much better with it over a pin sight.
