Ascending with HSS Lifeline?

For those that prep trees, has anyone ever placed an HSS Lifeline to hook into when climbing? I have a couple trees with sticks/ladders prepped that have several branches that would make it a pain to climb with a LB. Just thinking out loud that a HSS Lifeline left in place would be easy to hook to the bridge and climb up.

No reason it wouldn't work. Could always use it plus the linemans belt. There are several trees that I've wished I could do this with but then someone else would probably be there hunting when I came back.

I put a rope in my back yard tree and left it for a few days as long as it did not rain. It was new rope. When I took it down I noticed a spot where some core fibers were sticking out. I would not want to find out suddenly how much damage squirrels could do to a rope left in a tree for a month. It might not be pretty. I would leave a paracord loop and just pull your non-chewed rope up with it when you get there. If the paracord is chewed, it would not be dangerous.

I have thought about doing this also. I put my lifelines out in August usually, and I have never had a squirrel chew on one yet. But I always check them on my way up. I don’t hunt mornings until Halloween so I can see the ropes easily.

Agreed. Plenty of people put out lifelines for the season with their hang on stands without issue.
