But when there is movement by a silhouette of a hunter clearly not matching the backdrop, it is more noticeable. Just an idea, not something I totally lived by.

Movement is, imo, by far the biggest issue other than scent. I have run a bunch of them off because they caught movement. Either I thought they couldnt see me or they had a friend I hadnt seen that caught me. But in 40+ years of bowhunting I can confidently say that I have screwed up encounters about every way known to man and pretty sure I have invented a couple. LOL
