Back support

I own the aero hunter flex tree saddle and the tethered phantom tree saddle and like them both. I own the tetherd back strap called the Recliner its the best in my opinion you can't beat it i am going to buy a second one soon.

I looked at back band and i don't see how that would have any benefits related to saddle hunting

I am not sponsored by tethered but the do make the best back band for saddle hunting. It makes a huge difference as far as comfort you cant beat it $30.00

That looks similar to the kestrel back band. My complaints about the back band were the thickness of the pad and attaching via Prussics on the bridge. This is my first time seeing the recliner, and would go that route if I were doing it again

The belt seems like overkill for a back band. I use the strap that came with my sitdrag. I think it is 1.5 inch webbing with a loop on each end. It works fine for sleeping in the tree.

The Tethrd back band design looks nice. I think I will try to sew something along this design.

I have the back band for the areo kestral flex so that is what i am comparing it to. The back from tetherd you just hook it into the carabiner your tree tether(Watch the video). The back band areo kestral flex you have hook into bridge which more difficult and not very practical.
The tetherd back band is wider which makes more comfortable it makes big difference. If watch the video there are different ways you use the tetherd back strap. I could feel the difference. Believe me its worth $30.00 if your new to saddle i would diffently recommend getting the tetherd recliner back strap.

I bought some sewing machines so I can save the $30 everytime one of these issues comes up. Should cost me a few dollars.

I will be honest i am not a DIY GUY but i have a lot respect for the hunters who are . I come this site for information on climbing methods other practical information on saddle hunting.

I lost the prusiks for my Aero back band, so I just use a paracord loop and attach it to my carabiner like the recliner.

It's pretty easy to switch the AH back band over to the Tethrd style. I just removed the metal hooks and added a piece of webbing between the ends. It does require some stitching on the webbing, but my Speedy Stitcher took care of it no problem. It's not as wide as the Tethrd so probably not as comfortable, but it works for me.

I personally like the wide back that teher has to me more comfortable. I agree if your a DIY guy have your own sewing machine you custom make the way want. But your not a DIY guy best choice is tetherd back strap my opinion

I’m new to saddle hunting. Just got my Phantom early March before Covid so haven’t had many hours in it. I made a back support off Tethrd style from an old Summit harness and some Camo material and strapping from Amazon, thread & parts from Joann’s. I’m also new to sewing, claimed my wife’s old machine, not heavy duty. The sewing isn’t pretty but it will work since it’s not life supporting. I have tried it for a couple hours in a tree and it does make a difference if you were sitting for hours. Total cost of approximately $5.

I tried the Recliner at the Dixie Deer Classic this spring, and I admit it's comfortable. Personally, I use a regular strap with a carabiner on each end. I use prusik knots on the bridge to connect the carabiners. I prefer this over the recliner system, and here is why.... With the prusik knot, I can move the knots up and down the bridge to adjust for comfort during the sit. True, that can be done with the recliner by adjusting the length of the strap attached to the carabiner on the tether. But here is the major difference. With the two prusiks on the bridge, I can move the back band out of the way without much movement when the moment of truth comes, aka, the big buck is walking up and I don't want to move much.... dropping the back band gives me more range of motion for a better shot. With a simple down movement with each hand simultaneously, the prusik knots and back band move down to the bridge loops and the band is no longer in the way.
As usual, it's all about personal preferences and this is the perfect place to share those for others to read about and forming their own opinions. Happy turkey hunting for the remainder of the season. We have one week left here in NC.

Hooking the back band to the bridge instead of your tether carabiner is far superior IMHO.

I still prefer it attached to the bridge. It’s pretty much out of the way as is when attached to the bridge, but if you do happen to have it up high and it’s in the way just lean forward and it comes right down.

Geometry supports the bridge attachment.
