Hey guys, what day packs is everyone using who uses the Wild Edge steps for climbing and potentially a platform? This may have been discussed before but I didn't see anything too recent

It seems that most of the guys who tried some other bag have reverted back to the WE bag. I like the idea of cutting the bottom out, and will make that mod this spring. Overall tho It seems that the WE bag does what it is supposed to do. I thought that I would be buying the shoulder pad when they came out with it, but it seems a bit chintzy to me.

Since I don't have the steps in hand I was thinking I would be putting that bag into a day pack. But sounds like only 1 bag would be needed for everything for a day trip? I plan on hunting anywhere from a small chunk of private to 2 miles back on public

When climbing I find it nice to grab one, slides out nicely, fits snugs, if they were in a larger bag i believe you will have noise issues.

I use a couple different packs. I just set the stepps in the main compartment in their bag.

thanks for the help guys. So for a few hour day trip or even an all day rut sit I don't necessarily need a pack? The wild edge pack will do? Assuming I am wearing the kestral
well that WE pack only fits the steps, no other gear or food or water. I also carry a back pack

The WE pack is fine for carrying steps for the climb or a short hike. You probably need to carry a pack for other stuff so you might as well put the WE pack in that pack cuz it will most likely be more comfortable to wear.

I see Andrew has a pic on his website with the WE pack strapped to a pack on his back....I would like to know that set up....

Walking for long periods of time with just the WE steps in their original bag will not be nearly as comfortable as if they were on your back. My plan is to either put them into the main compartment of my Tenzing 2220 Hunting day pack(late season for extra gear) or in the Cabelas Elite Scouting pack(early season).

I’m also hunting in mountain terrain so it makes more sense to have my weight on my back rather then slung across my shoulder

I plan on added back straps and dump pounce to my bag this season. Just for hiking in then sling off shoulder for climbing
