hi everyone

im 6'2 , 21" torso and 36-38" waist.

been looking at the Eberlestock X2 , but been seeing post that it might not fit a taller person. some say its great ,other say it doesn't fit.

anyone own this pack with similar size and how does it fit ? or any recommendations about other packs for my size? looking for a pack to strap hawk helium 30" (3-4) sticks and a platform to it with gear inside ..mostly deer hunting.

thanks for the help

I’m 6’5”
250 lbs
X2 fits like a glove
Feels like a hug man

Are you going to be carrying more than 30lbs in the pack?

possible ...like to keep things light but don't want to fully restrict myself with a smaller pack and no support for long hikes. most likely dragging deer out but never know based on where / how far I am.

my general pack/stuff consist of

- 4 helium sticks 30" ,im sure I will mod it later on
- predator platform
- few knives, deer calls, small first aid ,range finder, Binos, bottle of water , few other items
- necessary ropes, biners, daisy chain and storage pouch for it.
- room for a few layers of clothes when walking so im not sweating on the way, gloves , balaclava ,toque
- knee pads
- harness/saddle if I decide not to wear on the walk.
and my bow in hand with the option to hook up to bag.

X2 will work fine
If for some reason your needs change it will sell very quickly here on the classifieds

I’ve got:
Knives
Game bags
Alcohol wipes
2 hawk bow hangers (in case one drops)
Deer drag
Extra sweatshirt
Canon g50 camcorder
Fourth arrow fluid head
Fourth arrow micro talon camera base
Fourth arrow micro triple arm
10 extra feet of oplux (backup tether)
10 extra feet of Trc (not sure why)
Grunt tube
EWO single stick with scout platform and 3 step aider
I put my jacket on the outside coming into the woods

And still have room for my keys and a full size water bottle

Hope this helps

thanks a lot Squatch.
it does help and ya figured it would sell fast if I don't like it. seems pretty popular but rather buy once. and like the looks of all the straps / pockets and support .

It’s a win
I got my wife one
Sent Matt one too for his Bday
The multicam one matches the new Tx5 saddles

Fit matters more the more weight you carry. Being able to perfectly adjust how much weight is distributed to your hips and shoulders up front, and during the carry, both go a long way to comfort. If the distance between the belt and the top of the shoulder straps doesn't fit you perfectly, making those adjustments becomes more difficult, and limits some of the distribution capability.

TLDR - if you don't carry more than 20-30lbs, or you're just hard and don't care, any pack will carry any weight within reason, regardless of fit. If you're a wuss, or you plan to carry more than 30lbs a lot, get a pack that is either a perfect fit for your torso length, or get one that's adjustable.

I'm 6'3, and there are not generic size packs that fit me properly. When you get into packs with frame sizes, I can make any of the talls/extra talls work ok. I personally don't care for the Eberlestock packs, but that is a comfort decision, not a fit to my size decision.

I just got the phantom saddle and mostly wear scentlok clothing , older patter.

what do you think of the Skye pattern ?
I live in Toronto Ontario, hunt mostly within 1 1/2 - 4 hrs away durning oct - dec if your familiar with the region and deal with a mix of trees - hardwoods to a mix of pines and cedar.

I have mountain personally
Pretty much the same forests
I sent Matt a multicam
Skye is close to mountain and sill be fine I’m sure

thanks for the info Kyler , everything helps

@Squatch must be a lot tougher then me. I am 6' but, have a long 21" torso. I bought the X2 and loved the layout but, 40 min. into the first hike with about 20lbs in the pack and my shoulders were on fire. My father who is 6'3" and also has a 21" torso tried the pack and didn't make it 30 minutes into his first hike and called the pack a "shoulder killer". The frame is so short that there is just no way to get any of the weight onto your waist.

If your taller person you gotta have those manly squatch shoulders to be comfortable in that pack. :)

@GCTerpfan
Thank you
I’ve never measured my torso so not sure on that, but I’m going to pay extra attention to how it feels on my shoulders next time
It never stood out to me before

A lot of the Mystery Ranch packs have adjustable yoke system so you can set the distance between belt and shoulder straps. If you are really concerned with fit, then might wanna look for an adjustable pack (seems hiking packs more likely to have this feature). No idea if the X2 does that.

I don't like much weight on my shoulders, so I'm glad I could adjust it to a custom fit.

I'm more a believer in picking the pack and then adding my attachment points exactly where they make the most sense for how I hunt (keeps me from overlooking the right pack based upon some webbing and clips). Here's an MR Scree with bungees so I can remove my platform with pack still on my back (pack is empty so it looks less secure, usually everything is pulled tight and it's never moved). I did the same thing for sticks on a past pack, but had the sticks to the side.

At it's heaviest, my pack is 25 lbs. I am in decent shape, but when walking several miles up and down steep slopes, I certainly appreciate a well fitting and made pack.

Man I'm 6'2 and pack 2 hawk sticks and pred platform not to mention everything else and i use an Alpz Pathfinder. It collapses for turkey hunting and has plenty of ways to add gear that won't fit when its in the "big" backpack form. Cheap but its good quality.. its cheaper on Amazon btw

I have that on my list of packs to consider. Thx for the info. I have a smaller alps now and it’s great for everything I do. Just doesn’t have the support with heavier loads.

Yeah its awesome cause if you don't need a big pack you can unclip and go in with a fanny pack. Really I got it because of all the different options you can get out of it.
