Anyone ever try something like this? Assume it does the job of ventilation well enough just wasn’t sure on how much it changes the carry load

Put your platform there instead, I packed mine that way all season.

I actually prefer the feeling of a stand to that of a backpack. Don’t prefer much else about a stand though. Packing my platform that way worked great for me and I found it to be more comfortable that way. But to each their own of course.

I had a badlands pack (Dash) that had venting like this. Nice little pack but the problem was that there was a bit of a curve from top to bottom which made it impossible to get a predator platform in there. Also made it annoying to grab things that slid to the bottom without taking everything out.

Hmm interesting concept, first impression through a screen, doesn't really look comfortable, but I would try it. I have a more rounded back and definitely need the padding especially since my .5 is first gen with the razor edges.

Ventilation is definitely the weak spot in my .5 setup but I consider it a minor annoyance. I do get sweaty back, but only on brutal hikes with a lot of elevation change. I figure on those I'm changing my baselayer shirt at the tree anyway. Most of my hikes aren't that brutal and it works just fine.

Actually, for non-hunting day hikes, my preferred pack is the Badlands Diablo Dos. I absolutely love the Hypervent suspension! However, as always, there are downsides: it's not designed for a ton of weight (maybe 20-25lbs, tops), and the suspension system doesn't like the bag being overstuffed. Again, great for warm weather day hiking or scouting!

I had a real back sweating problem with my old pack. I picked up a Mystery Rand Popup 28 and problem solved. I didn't get it for that reason. I just wanted something with a load shelf and medium sized storage bag. I absolutely love the thing. My back isn't soaked anymore by time I make it to where I want to hunt.
