I’ve been practicing different things on my prototype saddle while waiting on supplies for my final design , was wondering what yalls thoughts on this type of soft webbing loop on the main belt as a connection to
A backup Prussik on my tether. I’ve seen this type of connection used on riggers belts.

I think it’s a cool addition but I don’t think I’d want to be hanging from a buckle. Maybe a more tradition RCH closure would be better?

Yes. That's what I thought. RCH buckles are not quick detach for the very reason they shouldn't be quick detach.

Here is a bypass I tied to get around the plastic buckle. A Dyneema sling looped through the belt webbing tied in a square knot and a half and then clipped through a caribiner. The buckle does not come apart unless the sling is removed. The belt is riveted and sewn at the one point, it looks solid but I look at that as the weak point.

I can definitely see that , in this case it’s a back up for my bridge connection to my tether, a place to clip the tail of my tether with a figure 8 or an additional friction hitch.

How secure are those buckles? Several reviews on Amazon where people complained the buckle detached when they bent over.

My experience is they are very secure, that’s an astrialpine cobra buckle, I’ve never seen spontaneously open up.
