Bad neighbors and my kids hunt ruined. *LONG POST*

Like I said, bologna and Benadryl, then take them to the pound. While there are no laws against dogs running deer, I'm betting there are against unlicensed animals roaming freely.
Outside the city limits there is no requirement for licensing domestic animals in our area. I checked on that too. They have more rights as horrible pet owners than I do as a neighboring landowner.

I use to live on and lease 150acre, no houses within a mile so I would turn my dogs loose everyday with no worries. I had a guy stop one day, months before season started asking to trap I said absolutely and well I forgot about it and sure enough my dog got caught in a foot trap for a few hours oooppps.... sorry dog my fault! No damage other than it was damn sore for awhile but he never again ventured more than 100yds from the house.
If this was me I would trap, if you catch one take it to the pound and call law enforcement every day if needed, they will get tired of coming out and eventually talk to the people

Let’s look at your options.

1. Escalate the situation by continuing to contact the local authorities or by handling it yourself. Guarantee this leads to an eye for an eye, tit for tat type situation real quick with the people you’ve described. With having a family, people whom you care deeply for, not the route that should be taken IMO.

2. Ignore it and just let them walk all over you.

3. Sell the house & land, move some place else.

4. Grab a bottle of something hard, walk over and have a drink with them and see if you guys can’t hash it out.

No one knows the situation better than you. Best of luck.

I for one would look into suing for a private nuisance. If you're thinking about selling your land just because of your neighbors actions I think that really shows you have a case. You would think if they kept getting hit by judgements for letting their dog roam your land they'd think twice. Considering the small amount of time and effort it takes to take someone to small claims court it would be worth checking into.

Well that sucks. Know any local trappers that you trust? OR a local trapping club? Let them use it and mail certified letters to all properties abutting it letting them know of the use. All the trappers I know are extremely respectful and I"m guessing would work with on on places they setup, and times the check as to not interferre with your hunting...plus theyre good beta for deer info!

Other angle is hunter harassment laws....

As a director for a state trappers organization, there isnt a trapper that would touch said property with a 40ft pole. It would be totally against our interests to do so, even when the laws are on our side.

When I trapped in MO I used to catch the odd deer dog. A fresh coat of purple paint before I turned the dog loose cured the problem. I never caught the same dog twice. However I still have had more than one Deer or Turkey hunt spoiled by deer dodgers.
