Badlands Gearage Sale!

that catalyst rain gear has me somewhat interested. seems like a smoking deal. but the fact that it's such a deal also makes me wonder if it's not really that good and they're getting rid of it that cheap for a reason. any chance you have that particular jacket or pants and could give your opinion?

edit: disregard, the jacket's sold out since i looked a bit ago.

The MK3 look like a Eberlestock X2 or a MR CrewCab. I think those style of packs really shine if you are quartering out. But the 7+ lbs seem heavy for the volume size. Still look nice.

Just gonna say "IF" they have your size. It's an awesome rain set (just snagged another jacket at that price to throw in the truck)... They're discontinuing it in the FX pattern, but it's the same as their Exo set. Actually, that (or the Exo set) is my preferred rain gear. It's decently light, fairly breathable, not baggy, and it's QUIET. I hate noisy rain gear, I've had/have stuff from Eddie Bauer/Outdoor Research/First Lite/Badlands, and the Catalyst/Exo set and the original Alpha set are the quietest I have ever owned. The Catalyst is a good weight for what it is and for normal use, the Alpha set is pretty much hurricane grade. All that aside, the Catalyst/Exo is sized (and will fit) normally, so if you're layering underneath heavily, size up...

I looked pretty intensively at these, but I can't get myself to appreciate the pontoon-style bags lol... I do really still like the 2200 for what it is though, although I've since moved on to other bags.
