It's been a while since the Badlands 50% off deal has been available. Closest thing I've seen in a bit:

Can anyone give me a few good reasons it's better than my alps pack? Just curious.

Packs are subjective. Without seeing your alps pack, all I can do is tell you what I like about this pack:

integrated holster in waist belt
pocket on bottom that fits doyle hoist
external straps for attaching sticks/platform

I have a alps pursuit. I would like a tad bit more room when it's colder out. But not sure I want to spend the money for just more room. Are the zippers better? Does it ride better?
Bad lands makes good stuff. So no concern there. I find the waist belt on the Alps not very effective.
So really just curious if it carries well, zippers are smooth and durable, and it will hold up to abuse I might subject it to...

IMO yes the pack carries well. Any long hike I tighten up the waist belt and don't think about it, the weight transfers to the belt no problem. I read someone didn't like the zippers because they were loud, I call that user error. The zippers are stout and can be loud if you're in a hurry or not careful.

It carries very well. Mine is an older model. I want a new one but this one won’t die. I can pack a good medium doe out in one haul with it too.
