a question for those of you who have hunted for bear out of a saddle. I'm going to Maine next September to hunt for black bear over bait, my question is how do you set yourself up. This was my first year saddle hunting and I was successful in harvesting a buck from my mantis, so I'm still a bit of newbie to this, lol, thanks in advance!

I don't specifically "hunt" for bear but did take one from the saddle this year while deer hunting. I would guess the set up should be the same as if you were hunting deer, orient yourself so your strong side will be the side you most likely expect one to pass or at least has the best shooting vantage. I would also keep the tree between you and the bait pile.
