Beginner platform ideas

I’m extremely new to the idea of saddle hunting. Georgia’s hunting season is nearly over, but I’d like to have a saddle system setup before the 2020 season starts. Is the predator the best option? I’m trying to not spend 200 plus dollars, but if that’s the best thought Option I would. What do you guys think is the most practical, safest, and best “bang for the buck” option for a beginner?

I have a set of muddy stagger sticks. Curious if I could just use to top of the 3rd stick as a platform to start off with

Yea. That would work. Use them to practice this off-season and see how much you like it.

If you aren’t worried about the ATA, I encourage you to check out the Ridge Runner by Out On A Limb. I have one and it’s my first platform and I love it.

But true enough a good amount of people will be dropping their current gear for new stuff coming out.

Where do you live? Georgia has some native saddle hunters and home of the largest gathering of saddle hunters in the world. I would reccomendbmeeting up with someone and testing their stuff out.

Using mini platform from Artisan Outdoor Fabrications and Bullman ring of steps. Works with all of my boots and very sturdy.

If your new to the scene my advice would be to go with a platform that is proven instead of something new to the market. That way your dealing with a product that has all the kinks worked out. When the predator first came out it was breaking on people, the LWCG platform had bolts off center and bolts bending, the ridge runner had a welding issue, and the list goes on. I have owned them all minus the LWCG platform. I would suggest a ridge runner. It's a very well made and easy to use platform and it's built like a tank.

I second that. My RR is awesome. It is a tank of a platform but doesn’t weigh a lot and just works.

Currently I use a ring of steps I was gifted along with the top of my stick. Since I am comfortable sitting in my saddle I’ve been quite comfy.

If I was buying a platform it would be the lone wolf hand climber seat. I’d ditch single stick and use it as a climbing platform where applicable. I’d still use SRT in other sets but ratchet strap the hand climber seat to the tree as a platform in those cases anyway.

Nice area! Use to live there myself 12+ years ago. I just ordered a Predator platform from Tethrd. Hoping it comes in fairly quickly as we still have a month left to our season in AL. Any chance you are military or a first responder?
