Belt style harness

My "essdub"camo sling began its life as a climbing belt with two big metal rings on the hips. It weighed a lot, so I disassembled it and used only the "padded"belt and added webbing belt and webbing loops befOre I sewed camo fabRic around it. It's my favorite sling/saddle. I have a single "cradle" like half an Anderson sling rolled up that I can install in the tree if I need back or butt support

Yeah on here in a thread somewhere there's a bunch of them. But I checked on my mobile to see if I still have photos there and here's the ones I found there20160625_215541.jpg20160625_215631.jpg20160625_215551.jpg

Man, I would love to know more about this setup. It looks like adjustable cobra buckles on some webbing? That's pretty much what I had imagined, but with three V-rings sewn in.

I'm sure there's more photos and text concerning this sling on this forum somewhere in other places too, but here's the thread I started when I first started playing around with this particular sling/belt last winter.
It has probably changed/evolved more since I posted in this thread though. But this was the beginning of it.

It's hard to see in the photos but there are loops all the way around the belt. The official word from the company is that it's suitable for repel work but not rated for it.

Why aren't we just making our own? If you stitch the D rings inside of the belt, Saddle, tree hopper, etc... then you don't have to trust your stitches. Worst case your D rings end up in front of you but still inside the professionally manufactured Linemans belt or saddle.

Sounds good to me!

I'm trying to find some design guides for load bearing stitches. Nothing yet.

I would like to find something with cloth lineman's loops. The aero hunter belt portion is PERFECT for a linemans belt, except that it is probably 2x bigger than it needs to be.

I'm trying to find ways to avoid stitching up life safety stuff. Although I do trust my stitching with the speedy stitcher to do this if it came down to it.

You are worried about stitching into a Linemans belt that is thicker than you like? I do t want to encourage reckless behaviors. But seems like it should be fine.

Red,
the linesman I got from Ernie has been working fantastic. No metal d rings it is all material except the buckle. I would highly recommend it. I admittedly only hunted with it on 2 occasions. But I have been hanging in the yard and shooting with the Bow a lot.

Sent from my
Sit drag, Ernie's outdoors linesman belt,
At 20' up

Red, this is what I'm thinking. I'd use webbing as big as the seat belt here or even 3" and wrap it around.

I trust my stitching enough to be 99.999% on this. And if it does break, because anything can. I would fall about 6-8" before the seat belt material catches the D-ring or carabiner (I think 'biner).

Anyone have any concerns about a design like this? I'm open.
