Best badlands pack for saddle hunting

nice pack but it’s just a little out of my price range lol

I used a 50% off code they were running at the time and paid $100. I think they bumped the price of the bag from $200 to $230 or something like that but they run 40-50% off promos somewhat frequently and I can’t imagine you’ll find a bag for less with anywheres near the features/warranty-

I got the pursuit for $70 so I went ahead and grabbed it.

I strongly recommend looking at the diablo dos if you haven’t pulled the trigger already. This is my first year in the saddle but I couldn’t imagine using another pack (as long as you’re not packing meat). I strap my sticks and platform to the front of it and my sys hangs off the mole loops on the waist belt. When I get to the tree, I pull off the sticks and platform, attach my bow to the back of the pack, hang the sticks off my saddle and then slide my platform into the ventilation gap between my back and the pack (pictured).
I’ve never seen a pack that allows you to keep the platform so accessible.
I climb up, and when I get to hunting height I can reach behind me, without taking off the pack and grab the platform. Hang my gear strap, take off my backpack and then unhook my bow. One super easy trip.

I have a DOS myself. I like the platform vent gap idea for easy access and I will have to give that a try. I am also all about minimizing gear & ultra light hunting. However, if you hunt out west much you realize a frame pack with hip belt that's ~2 lbs heavier will be much more comfortable and seem lighter overall. The pack does have a little more bulk. Everyone is different so choose a frame/waste belt pack or not for your saddle & climb system. In addition, I have been using it out west for day hunting and it has been working very well for that. Packing Elk meat the last two years on the first load out it has worked quite well for a day pack. I switch to my heavy hauler on subsequent loads.

I have the Badlands Superday pack. I carry 3 XOP climbing sticks using the zip out, drop down gun “holster” and then strap the upper part of the sticks to the outside of the pack using the compression straps. Inside the pack I have a platform, saddle, ropes, extra clothes and all my other gear. It takes a really long, cold day requiring lots of extra clothes before I run out of space in the pack. It is quite supportive for a pack without a frame, and handles heavy, bulky loads quite well. When I need to carry more, I break out the Eberlestock Mainframe.

I use the badlands super day pack it has plenty of room to store wild edge steps in main compartment while still leaving room for other hunting gear and the rear strap system holds my ridge runner super tight to the pack. No noise and all the weight stays against your back.
Mind posting a picture carrying the ridge runner?
