I am new to saddle hunting but plan to dive right in this coming season. I have done tons of research on all of the production saddles available and the. Found a few custom saddle makers that are making stuff that I really like. Does anyone have suggestions on people to look at that make them custom? If you have pictures as well that would be appreciated.
Thanks!

That’s one of the ones that I have found so far and his saddles look great. At this point he is the front runner for sure. Thanks!

I’m reluctant to steer someone towards a custom saddle w/o them knowing what they even prefer. I’d start in the classifieds & find out what you like & dont & go from there (my 2 cents)

I definitely think that’s a good idea, I just don’t seem to find many saddles on there. I feel like it is going to take me forever to find what I like that way, but I may be very wrong.

My opinion is you see alot of guys on Facebook and other places selling custom gear. I have a hard time buying stuff from someone that I really don't know that well and putting my life in it. You really don't know if it is properly made with correct materials, stitches, etc.. Just my opinion and I am in no way slamming these guys selling them as they may be legit. Personally I would have a tough time putting my life in one though.

Really not a huge right or wrong starting out..... just getting a system figured out & learning to climb & get hooked up is a good start. You can swap out different items as you develop a preference. You can research the heck out of this but you don’t know what you don’t know until you get into it....

Very true maybe I’ll check that one out.

What size waist do you have? I find that I like my saddles a little big for layering reasons.

All else fails it's a little big but know you know your size for sure and you know what you want. Or it fits well and you got a great saddle at an unbeatable price. Or you like it but it's a tad big so you sell and use that money to fund a different size. Gain some saddle experience and only be out the price of shipping....

Welcome to the rabbit hole........

That xl mantis would be a good investment. At 32-33 you should be good with the xl. You can layer up in it and still be good.

If you don't like it sell it and find one that you think more lines up with what you want. Win win in my book!

For the record, I got a XL mantis and didn't like it so I got a size 2 kestrel. It was ok but not perfect. Sold it and bought an H2. Killed in the H2 but it was similar to the kestrel, good but not great. Sold that and got a Guido's web and a new trophyline. Liked the Guido but to bulky. TL was the best but I couldn't get past the bridge system. Traded both of them for other stuff. Got a kite. Put that in the same category as the kestrel and H2. Sold that during my "off-season" now working on my own diy. Will probably try more saddles in the future but for now I'm having fun DIYing....

All this to show.... I have no bias. I'm a saddle sl*t. Get your hands on whatever you can and figure out what you like.

I think Tactisaddle is allsom! And John Tucker will help with any questions NUTTERBUSTER did a video on it.

I’m with @Bigterp on the ordering a custom saddle before you have enough time in one to know exactly what you want. I would find a saddle that’s adjustable and go from there. If I truly wanted custom it would still mean a new saddle every couple years as my body, climbing styles and just personal preference tends to change every year.
Also what are you wanting “custom” on a saddle? Bridge options and buckles are pretty easy for the owner to change.
