I’m looking for a pack that I can strap climbing sticks to. I don’t carry much gear. So the smaller the better. I think the eberlestock x2 is a bit overkill. I may be wrong. The only things I carry in my pack is.
1. Range finder
2. Grunt call
3. Rattle bag
4. Water bottle
5. Snack
6. Knife
7. Small flashlight
8. Jacket
9. Ring of steps
10. 3 small s-biners
11. Sticks strapped to pack 3 helium

I have a very small Walmart hiking backpack and I can fit everything in it but it doesn’t hold the sticks well. I don’t walk very far 1/2 mile at most. What do you recommend?

I'm using a Badlands Ascent pack. It's great for sticks and has an outside pocket that fits a predator platform like a glove.

If you like a ring of steps then you need to try them in conjunction with a platform. It's the best of both worlds!

I love my Badlands Monster fanny pack!

Just looking at your list, the Eberlestock X2 will be overkill. And I say that as someone who uses that pack exclusively now. It's amazing, but can hold a bunch more than your needs seem to indicate.

Guys seem to like the Badlands packs, so that could be a good place to start. Ascent and Superday seem to be real popular around here.

I would recommend carry sticks with strap, and try a small 15-20$ sling pack seen here, add a bottle pouch on one side, another accessory pouch on the other and a couple lashing straps for extra clothes. It will easily carry what you have listed and is compact enough to hang right in front of you below your tether for easy access w/o getting in the way. I carry pretty much everything you have listed except ring of steps and additionally I can fit my ozonics unit and extendable bracket in the main pocket. If your set on strapping sticks to your pack, I also have a Tenzing 1500 and it works great for that. I just don’t like the extra fiddle factor taking off pack and removing sticks. Just another option for you, hope you find what works for you!

I’m new to saddles and just figured having them on the pack would be better for having my hands free in case I was presented a shot in the way in or out. The shoulder strap would be a lot easier though then dealing with the straps on the pack. So I may end up going that route.

Check the classifieds and look at "pack for sale" it is like the Monster fanny I mentioned!

I am right handed and i always carry my sticks on the right side with strap slung over my head and on my left shoulder...I can still shoot my bow this way. I like that i don't even have to remove my pack at the tree, just undo sticks, hook up bow and start the climbing process. It is not a race for me but i feel like i am up quicker and quieter with this method. as well as leaving less ground scent around my tree.

Makes sense! I’ll definitely give it a try because then I could use the pack I already have. What do you use for a strap on the sticks? I have the helium sticks.

I use a bow strap sold by limbsaver...you can get on their website. I think it is 11.99 or something like that. they have two versions. one is just webbing and the other has some molded rubber and webbing. I have both and prefer the straight webbing version.

I use a Mystery Ranch popup 18. Has the meat shelf so I can stuff in a heavy jacket there and can also use that area for my sticks if I want. Bag is just right at that point for the little stuff and has small pockets on top and front for organization as well as two water bottle pockets, one of which has my hand saw and the other a water bottle.

I just picked up the ALPS OutdoorZ Willow Creek. It is really small, but it holds my Podium well and carries what I need for a hunt with the added benefit of the hydration bag when I do an all day sit. I have also started carrying my sticks on a shoulder strap. Just seems to work better for me.

How about both.I don't like hanging a full size pack up in the tree with me so I go into the woods with everything in large pack.when I get ready to go up the tree I nestle the large pack to the ground and go up the tree with the small one.

ALPS makes great packs for the money...I use a little bear set up for scouting trips and doing presets. Sold my pathfinder, but that was one versatile pack that could even haul some meat out. it did not carry my bow very well though.

the alps willow creek looks interesting. I have the badlands super day which is nice but is over kill for what I do.

The Willow Creek is small, but I was able to fit in the essentials for an all day sit and will keep tweaking my gear. Once rifle and muzzleloader open, I'll hunt from the ground more or in shooting houses and carry bigger packs. For my saddle set up, it rocks.
