I made my first fleece throw saddle tonight. Worked pretty well. Thin fabric that I folded in half. When I move to Polartec 200, I plan to only use one layer and fold over the right and left edges to double (or triple) stitch a channel for my cord on each side (used as gather and then bridge elements girth hitched behind it).
I don't think you can iron fleece to get that nice overlap to run through the machine. I'm an extremely novice sewer. How would you hold the couple inch fold on the ends of the fleece so that it can then be easily sewed?
On my first one, I held things with clear tape and then sewed right through the tape. I'm sure there's a better way though.
