Just a quick thought. Saddle Hunting is awesome & the word is out! This has meant huge growth in perceived market shares for YOUR dollars & opinions! We’re still a “small” niche group but some cool stuff is coming our way. With this fast growth has come some new challenges. We’ve lost a little of the think tank DIY vibe that made this place popular (b/c you can just buy it now). But also with all the new personalities on the site it’s really getting chippy for no real reason! Sometimes you have to agree to disagree & move on, getting the last word “in written form” just escalates things & creates a circus. It doesn’t really benefit anyone & then stifles good discussion & differing viewpoints by forcing things to be shut down. In the coming year saddle hunting will continue to grow. There’s gonna be more guys rappelling with Paracord & build diy platforms from aluminum foil........ let’s help people stay safe, but let’s not conduct business on this forum in a way that makes people feel unwelcome!! Also with growth there have been a lot of changes to how manufacturers & those that have relationships with manufacturers communicate here. This is new ground for all & everyone needs a voice, so have some patience while this is all worked through. There’s over 10k people here can we dial it back to basics & roll with it so this place ,can continue to be a valuable resource to all things saddle hunting??

I watched some climbing videos on YouTube where it’s a kid using paracord. Someone in his life needs to save him from himself.

I know it was tongue & cheek but I’ve seen some scary stuff mostly on Facebook, but some here. I know we can’t rewind the clock but we can still be good at what we’ve been good at!

Well, you ever heard of darwinism? Survival of the fittest? Its natures way!

I know my belay device isn’t rated for paracord but it works for me and I highly suggest everyone else uses it too. All other opinions are WRONG.

Is someone building a mechanical descender rated for paracord? :) On an almost serious note if me and @DaveT1963 can finally agree on something other than how awesome crocs are the rest of you should get along just fine.

I'll take a pulley that can capture progress that works with paracord!

Problem with this is the fact that we live in a nanny state. If a couple guys fall out of trees in one year in my county forest, there's a good chance the will suddenly ban hunting from a tree!

Yup that is the main problem. Punish the many because of the few

Did you see that paracord saddle that guy posted on the FB forum? Yeesh. I tried to tell him to wear an RC harness under the paracord saddle his girlfriend made for him. He told me if paracord was good enough for parachutes, it was good enough for his saddle.

Well, we always need stuff for the Darwin awards.

But if Paracord is rated for 500 pounds and you have 10 different stands then it is the additive affect...500x10=5,000 pounds

In all seriousness though, I agree with what Bigterp stated. I have some diy ideas but we're building a house and need to get the one we're in ready for sale.

I have an idea for a bridge-less saddle. Don't know if it will work but I'll try and fire up my Juki.

I also have an idea on a lower body layering system that you put on in the tree.
