Binocs..Yes/No

I always carry mine in the field. 8x Bushnells in an Alaska Guide Creations front pack. I do a lot of still hunting and I find that glassing causes me to slow down and move more carefully. I'll glass a clearing before leaving a brushline, which has kept me from spooking several deer. If I hear something coming in I will sit still and not glass... I busted a very nice buck at 60 yards trying to find him (and moving arount too much) whereas if I had just sat still I would have gotten him.

Nope. The times I wish I had them are far outnumbered by the times I carried them and didn’t get any advantage from having them. I hint in the mountains, so there is usually not more than 100 yards of visibility

I used to carry binos for bow season but after awhile found that my range finder worked just as well as the binos in the areas I hunted (deep/thick woods). But for open fields and longer distances there’s no question, never leave home without them!

I would feel very handicapped without my binos. Not only for identifying an animal you want to, and in the case of antler restrictions, can shoot, but for stalking and scouting. I’ve never had them interfere with my shot. I’m not a fan of a big harness on my chest, just the binos with a strap.

This one is easy: get some binos. Vortex is best bang for your buck. 8x42 is my preference.

I have Votrex 8x32 bino's and just bought a Vortex monocular 8x36 ( I think it's 36 or 34). I agree Vortex best value. Lifetime warranty any problem send it back no questions or receipts needed.

As if you need another reason to carry binos...specifically in a chest rig.

This morning my headlamp died mid walk in. I have a handheld backup but got a bright idea (see what I did there)!

I turned my phones flashlight on low, folded back the lid of my chest rig and wedged my phone in between the binos and the inside of the pack. My phone peaked out just enough to give light. Which also leads me to believe I could film crappy videos on my phone this way! I did my whole walk in and climb this way, setting 4 wild edge steps and a mission platform. Not a bad backup.

It was a heck of a climb up, too.
