In Bob Sheppard's book "Whitetails: A Research Based Hunting Method" he talks about how he uses a database to catalog and organize his stand sites, searchable by criteria such as wind direction, afternoon or morning site, etc. The book has a link for a free download from his website... but his website is no longer up.

Did anyone download this software when it was available, and if so, would you be willing to send it to me? Or does anyone know any other software currently available that performs this function?

I would guess an Excel spreadsheet would perform this function. Have a column for each of the criteria you listed, then use a filter box to show only those stands that meet the criteria you decide to filter
I think this is probably the path honestly. Should take less than a hour to build on excel if you know what data inputs you want. @shmeags keep us posted but if you don’t get what you want I’m sure I can put it together if it isn’t something that’s in your wheelhouse. It’s not how I hunt so I’d need all the data points you want.

This may well be the case and I really appreciate the offer. Actually I do currently use a combination of excel and word for this purpose. To be fair my excel abilities are pretty much limited to filter and sort, but excel is somewhat restrictive in the amount of information you can put in each row and keep it readable, which is why I am intrigued by this software. I've attached a screenshot from his book showing what an example page from the database looks like. An excel wizard probably could make something closer to this... but I couldn't without some significant learnin'

Have you plugged the link into archive.org? There is a chance that there is an archived copy.

Wow - there IS an archived copy of it here! I didn't know this existed. Thank you!

In case others are interested, the link to plug in URLs to check for archived copies is: https://web.archive.org/

Unfortunately, I see now that the database is a .FP7 file which requires Filemaker Pro in order to use... which costs $594 to download. There doesn't appear to be any free software that can handle this file type or an easy answer for conversion.

Looks like there are older versions available for cheaper but... I think I'll be sticking to my Excel spreadsheets for now, as several have suggested . Maybe when I find as many good sites as Dr. Sheppard apparently had I'll reconsider . Thanks everyone for the help!
