Yesterday at 3:15 pm my neighbor filmed a bobcat take down a small doe on his lawn. I didn’t think they were capable of taking down anything bigger than a fawn. I have a full video but I can’t post it because he is saying swear words the whole time lol.

Post the vid with a NSFW tag?, we wants to see, and already curse like a sailor occasionally so my dog won't care/nobody else is in my home office lol

Very cool. Whereabouts in Jersey? I know we have them in the northwest quadrant of the state, but there are deer elsewhere too? ;)

Putty tat eatin good in the neighborhood.
Please don’t refer to my wife as, aputty tat! LOL. The cat didn’t even eat anything. I think he planned to come back at night when the humans are sleeping to eat in safety. I brought him back the heart, liver and lungs to say thanks lol

Pound for pound, cats might be the scariest/most impressive animals to me.

I've only seen one bobcat "do it's thing" in the woods. It ran through crunchy leaves and hardly made a noise, and jumped onto a large red oak that had squirrels in it and scaled that red oak at a rate I didn't think possible. It went up that tree as fast as me jogging on the pavement, maybe faster.

By watching the video I’d say he has done this before. If the moderators ok it I would post it. The F word is used over and over and this is a family website

I was just poking fun! The thought of the cat coming back to his kill and it being gone less the vitals is hilarious to me. Thanks for sharing!

I Don’t know if I mentioned it somewhere, but I thought it was roadkill at the time I took it. The neighbor sent me the video after I already had it hanging in my garage.

Bobcats do this all the time. Cats in general can take down animals way bigger than them. I say this all the time there isn’t a species on earth including humans that are better killers than cats PERIOD. Think of a basic house cat, I’d rather fight a German Shepard. You may walk out of a room 10/10 times with a house cat but you’d be regretting life every time now make that cat 30lbs and you have no chance. Most people can’t even fathom the ability of animals we always try and compare them to ourselves. The strongest humans on earth can’t do what some small animals can but cats are the top of the food chain when it comes to murder and that’s including human population.

A buddy of mine had a trap line in NH and you can't keep bobcats so you have to release them from the trap. To release them you have to put a catch pole around their neck, open the trap then release the catch pole. My buddy was 280 lbs and about 6'2" and the cat was going nuts when he put the catch pole line around his neck. As soon as he released the trap the cat bolted and swept him off his feet and dragged him around until he could finally get in a position where he could loosen the line and let him go. It was a funny story to hear. :tearsofjoy:

I remember in some documentary that pound for pound cats are stronger than dogs (and probably humans too). We just don't realize it because house cats are so small. I'd be scared to death of a 100 lbs house cat, it could probably kill a pit bull.

I think pound for pound, everything is stronger than a human.
As far as the video goes, it’s not posted anywhere online. I sent it in an email to @thedutchtouch and he is going to edit the audio and send it back to me. I will post it then. Unfortunately my neighbor didn’t get the takedown. The deer is already on the ground and struggling to get the cat off her. You can see at the end that the tail stops flickering, back legs stop kicking and the front leg slowly moves forward. That’s when she expires. Stay tuned.

As an owner of cats my whole life and dogs I can definitely say cats are pound for pound stronger, faster and tougher than a dog. And If it came down to life and death id much rather go against my 158# Great Pyranease than my 18# Maine Coon. Though neither would be a walk in the park, on 2nd thought that may be a bad analogy lol
