I’m 6 foot 248. Are the bolts gonna bend or the holes tear on me if I try using them. Want to know before I spend the money. What’s your opinions. Thanks.

There's too many variables to consider for someone to give a definite yes or no (besides the guy that posted below me). Here's a 50 pg thread with info below though.
I'm 220lbs, use 3/8" diameter x 6" long grade 8 bolts and drill them to a depth of 2 1/2" and haven't had any break or bend. I have had holes elongate a bit on really thick barked trees.
Buy a few bolts, try at ground level on similar trees you're going to be hunting out of. Harbor Freight sells a cheap stubby auger bit set with a 3/8" bit you can put in your drill or 1/4" impact and drill a few holes. You'll have to ream the holes a little with the 3/8" bit. If you're bending 3/8" grade 8 bolts, go up in size until you feel comfortable.

No, my buddy weighs a lot more than that and he uses bolts, grade 8, I think he is like 265 or 270, he loves bolts.

If you climb carelessly, step on the end of bolts, lunge as you step, are sloppy drilling, you’ll bend and break bolts and tear the holes at 225lbs.

if you’re careful climbing, think through what you’re doing, step normally, drill normally, and use quality components and the right drill bit in the right trees, you’ll be fine at 300lbs.

we don’t know you. You know you. My best guess is if you’re asking this question, probably not a good idea. Having said that - best advice already given - try it at ground level. Have an honest conversation with yourself.

i just ask the question because I wanted to see what some guys experience is with bolts. I’m not new to hunting nor climbing tree. I’ve used tone of climbing methods just wanting to get more compact setup.
