Bolts for steps

Use guys must have skinny feet. 6” bolt..... 2.5 or 3” in the tree only leaves 3” stickin out. I bought 8” grade 8 bolts

I thought about that, but then got to thinking there’d be too much leverage on it

Size 11 here, so fairly middle of the road. There's not a whole not of real estate in most climbing sticks. Put a tape on a LW step. Not saying don't do 8s, but I think it's more of a perception thing.
 
Yup plus longer bolts mean a deeper gutting if you fall

Dude... I did not need to see this, I don't need reminding. :tired:
I just cut about a 1/2" off the threads on mine since they say thats the weakest part of the bolt

Size 14 shoe climbing a 6 inch bolt drilled with the ezkut. Felt safe and solid. Now to coat these bad boys
