Bow Holder ? (Left Handed)

I have an idea of something I may try to work up at lunch today. I rummaged threw our scrap metal pile at work, and found a 4-5" long pc of aluminum angle. 1"x1"-1/4" thick. got a 3/8" pc of alum. round stock to use for a hook. I'll see how it works out.

I used this all weekend and LOVED it. About the size of a golf ball, and easy on/off. There's a small prussic loop on the other side to hang my pack from with a carabiner.

Nice, so your hanging the bow by the quiver. That might be the ticket. Good idea. Now if the bow holder could double as a hook in case you drop something.........:sunglasses:

So, here is what I came up with. Not as small as some of the others, but will work for what I would like. The hanger part is a little long, but I will tweak later. will cover in stealth strip, not sure if I will use paracord or something similar to strap to tree., I have some extra LW straps in the box, so maybe one of those with a EZ hang hook. for scale, the screws are 10-24, the bracket is 1/4" thick. I might grind a little relief on the hanger portion to next better when folded. In 2nd pic., you can see the sharpie marks where it needs grinding. probably weighs 1/2 lb or so. I could lighten up the bracket as well.

Bummer you didnt leave some below the bolts. I would bend/flare 2 ears over to give it stability to rest on the tree. Ive made several home made types and if you cant get the strap crazy tight, they are gonna fold over on ya.
I thought about that. I was thinking of making ears slightly above the bolts. Basically cutting small V's across the back and bending them out. Having them up a little higher will help keep them from catching on everything when it is rolled up for storage...at least in theory

You have enough material you could re-drill the holes with the lower one closer to the edge. Then you could fold completely without having to grind the rod where marked. Just a thought

U r correct.

I am left handed and leave my quiver on. I have no issues with my hero clip.....

@live2huntt do you attach it to your tether or something else?

Looks like it might work for me.

That is my linesman's belt. I figured it was already wrapped around the tree so I might as well just tighten it up and use it as a gear hanger. I have only tried it once and it worked well. I will just carry the hero clip and a few small s-biners in my pack to hang my range finder, and grunt call, and pack on.

Back to the drill press/grinding room/sand blaster. Cut off the bottom, re-drilled the screw holes, drilled some extra lightening holes, and re-drilled the hanger end. I like it. Now to stealth strip it, and add some paracord and see how it hangs. Should work for what I was looking for. Folds perfect.

Skell,
Thanks for the ideas, I just had some other materials available. Saved $50 over what I was looking at. Thanks all for the different ideas. Lots of options to look at, at a variety of prices ($17-50). If I can DIY fairly easily, I like to try it.

Moved mine closer to done today...just need to camo tape the U channel.

Looks good, nice and compact, yet some room to the tree.

I was planning on using paracord to tie it on. Nope, that do t work, can’t get it tight enough. Going to try an extra LW strap that I’ve got. It wanted to twist funny. I have a back up plan after I try that.

Kinda hard to see but I took a piece of 1/4" steel bar, bent it and covered it in heat shrink tube. I made a square one for the bow and a more traditional one for my backpack. I hang the quiver on a plastic hook I robbed off a bungee cord web. Total cost for me was $0.00.

No, haven’t tried one of those, though I do have a couple in my bin. I wanted to just get the bow out away from the tree a little further. Going t retry the LW strap, but my OCB strap should be here Friday, just in time for my sat. Hunt. If it doesn’t sit just right, I’m going to put 2scews in it at an angle so it can stabilize it more, but I think the new strap will work just fine.
