I accidentally clipped my bowstring with a razor trying cut my peep serving off. Cut a few fibers and need to replace the bowstring. My cables however still look to be like brand new. Cables are the zebra strings that came with my mission bow last fall.

I was looking at America best bowstrings platinum bowstring. Is this worth it or a waste of money since I won’t have matching cables?

My advise is to go to Catfish Custom Strings and get a BCY x99 string. It's (in my opinion) a better string and cheaper. Call him and ask his opinion on replacing only the string or string and cables, he won't steer you wrong.

I was actually up in Grand Rapids for work for a few days in late January and left Catfish custom four voicemails trying to get new strings then without a single return phone call. Im a little disappointed with them at the moment but I’ll give them another try I suppose

I think you’ll be fine just replacing the bow string if its tuned properly. Shoot it and have it tuned again before season if need be. Depending on the string, they may stretch some, or not much at all.

Whenever I have called, he answers by the third or fourth ring.

Mike(Catfish Custom) usually pretty good with emails. His strings are what I use and they are great. But Vapor trail have some clearance strings set if you need them ASAP.

I'd take this opportunity to go ahead and replace everything. Having said that, you can get away with just replacing string.

I’d just replace all. String makers can all vary a little on length and diameter. Email Mike at catfish. He’s got excellent strings and service. Right now is the busy time for these guys cause as usual many people are just starting to dust there bows off for season.

I tried to reach catfish customs via email again back in June with no luck. I officially gave up on him. Ended up going with Squatch Bowstrings LLC and couldn’t be happier. I had my bowstrings within 3 days of placing the order. Look great great, shooting great, and haven’t had even a slight peep twist yet.
