I'm slowly going over my gear and decided now's a good time to replace my bow string set before I commit to a final arrow build tune and I'd like to hear what you guys have used and either liked and would use again or feel you wasted the money and should have gone with something else.
I've always replaced my strings with the OEM Zebra strings so I don't know if their performance is on par with some of the other strings like 60X and Winners Choice. Custom string builds allow for customizing colors but is that the only benefit? They all seem to state there's no peep rotation and that the strings are pre-stretched.
My bow is strictly used for hunting and flinging arrows at targets around the yard so what do you guys recommend? .
 
I had an old Zebra/Barracuda for 10 years on my Switchback and wish I would've left it alone. I got a new Zebra and they aren't what they used to be. It looks worse than my old string after 6 months and I had to re-tie in my peep. It's finally settled in and I've since singed the frays but I'd listen to the guys on the Catfish Customs or 60x.

You've got the same bow, I thought I was the last remaining Switchback shooter.

It doesn't get used too much anymore since I mainly shoot longbows and recurves but that bow has too many memories to it to get rid of, plus it's a sweet shooter.

It sure is, that's why I never wanted another bow.
 
Just got my catfish in. Haven’t installed yet but quality looks top notch and can’t beat the price! About 10 day turn around.
 
I'm going to try the Catfish bowstrings. What string material would be the best choice, BCYX99, BCY Mercury or BCY452X?
 
I asked Mike at catfish when I just ordered mine. The 99 is the most durable and popular for hunting. I told him I wanted tuff and dependable. He responds to emails. Was very helpful for me. I just got mine in the mail yesterday.
