Just recieved tethrd mantis. When I got up tree I noticed about 4 or 5 spots that looked to be frayed. Picture below. Is this normal?

Would that be normal to see in 4 or 5 places? I’m new to saddle hunting and definitely dnt know anything about splicing. Just wanting to make sure everything was fine.

I’m new also but looking at mine as I sit in tree and see at lest 3. I think ur good but others with more experience Will chime in I’m sure

Yep, that is the tapered tag.
Properly done, you pull 2 strands at a time walking back until you have a gradual tapered reduction in diameter. Those pulled strands get cut away, and sometimes poke through the open weave of the outer layer. That is all you are seeing.

The splice is tapered, which means each strand is cut off in a different place, so the ends will sometimes poke out. Not a problem at all, still completely safe.
