This is my first year using a saddle and it has been great. I drew on my first deer today and during the draw cycle it hit my bridge. I quickly realized it and was able to avoid and come to full draw without spooning the deer. However, he managed to stay about 15 yards out of bow range. My question is was likely due to me not paying attention or my set up? I drew when he was at my 12 and moving to my 11, he never knew I was there but I fear he may have if had been closer.

Well, I guess it’s a little of both. You have to find a bridge length that you are comfortable with and practice with it. I have a very short bridge (18”)and tether about nipple high. Some people get hip pinch with this set up but this is what I’m comfortable with. I think a long bridge length and high tether tend to get in the way but if you practice and get use to it it won’t be a problem.

My tether was a little higher than usual so I’m thinking that had played a part in it. This is the first time it has happened but it’s also the first time I’ve drew in an actual deer and not practice. I’ll have it a lower next time and be a little more cautious.
