I told welder i would put out......buck naked down to the socks,underoos,carkeys,everything.this is for tomarrows early season elk hunt .forcast is steep, full of devils club brush and muddy...28 pounds 6 ounces. My bow with arrows and release was 7 lbs.8 ounces.not ultralight.the Merrell waterproof boots with gators are 3 lbs.saddle with 2 tethers is 2 lbs.cloths undies ,socks thermalls,camo,vest ,gloves hat ,misquito net, bandana,neck gator.4lbs6 ounces.fanny pack is 10 lbs. Loaded..crimson cloak ghillie with a lone wolf seat pad,fullsize rump elk decoi , small bugle tube,sqeeze cow call,calls,headlamp , .range finder,clippers ,extra linemans slash gearhanger,camando wire saw ,t p,wallet,keys,knife,tags,pen,burned wine cork to darken fingers and face,2 protein bars,4 granola bars,1 liter water, and a pint .....give or take an ounce or à pint.

Yeah i got a couple extras for elk season.it. ill be wet and high altitude.or i would wear my trail runners and didtch my thermals and vest if it was warm and dry.i never use the decoi but i love it.dont need the seat pad or ghillie, just love them .they add up but seperate they are all light.gadgets.my trimmer ar lighter than most but not ultra light.but they litteraly get you out of a bind of native ground cover blackberries and the twelve feet tall razor hemilayan blackberries.havent used à rangefinder to fill one tag.my pocket knife isnt ultra light but i killed my first deer with it after spining him.headlamp is not ultralight but its the first one i got and been there the whole time.gear will change when its warm cold, and the same fore deer season. When covering ground i wont take my saddle or the other extras.but thats why modularity and versitility in your gear excels.you have to fight each fight how its fought.this isnt minimalist its a little gear junky for the distance but this setup is just right for the honey holes in high cascades.there will be lighter load outs in other hunts that i will post.but my projectiles are always heavy

Audibles where called of course.plan d.strait up and over then cover ground.300 feet in élévation to the ridge road à 100 yards out as a crow flys.but we are boxed in by hunters,and it wasn cold.so i instantly ditched the longjohns ,vest ,seat and ghillie for the climb.thats where versatility and modularity comes in handy.did a 7 mile loop in high places.... saddle on of course

These guys on the bike down in the middle of the road started on the south side of the mountains like we did.took the long way they did.Screenshot_20230903_033243_Gallery.jpgthey didnt know we could see the whole unit was empty.they have been mas logging everything that burned,but the brush hasn't recoverd yet .tree planters work hard but dont spread like wild fire.yetScreenshot_20230903_041609_Gallery.jpgthey where being called in by 2 guys we could see walking the road to the southeast of us..... who where coming in to their calls.all younger dudes..atleast they are out there getting it.

Two things I'm not doing......wearing a saddle and strapping myself to a tree in the mountains, and carrying a 7#+ bow.

Looks fun though.
