HA! I've had that same question. Either way my stupid dog finds a way to eat it or roll in it.Question on turds......i sometimes find nuggets of compressed turd balls.... Deer poo that is in 1 or 2 big poo balls. Is this just any deer that's backed up or is this a buck or doe only trait?

I'm ignorant on this but it seems i find the big turd balls close to a known buck bed....leads me to think it's a buck thingNo idea if it's true but I was always told that only a buck will produce the compacted clumps like you're referring to.
I call BS on that. And the idea that big deer lay big turds. Think about it.No idea if it's true but I was always told that only a buck will produce the compacted clumps like you're referring to.

What's the biological difference in the gastrointestinal tract of a male vs female organism? Anybody go around measuring deer anuses?
More importantly, anyone have kids? A 6 year old can clog the heck out of a toilet...

According to Dr. Leonard Lee Rue, clumped turds mean the deer is grazing instead of browsing. IE, earing soft, succulent vegetation like alfalfa and clover.I'll try to find the source, but I read that bucks only produce the clump-turds in the fall because their increased testosterone actually gives them a form of deer diarrhea. I'm not 100% on board with that, but I read it an old timey book on tracking I believe.
A deer track tells you 2 things definitively. That there was a deer there a while ago and that it was going a certain direction. Everything else is a guessing game.
