Buckleless webbing attachment for steps with versabutton?

I just got the mini straps with the shikar sticks wanted to try them out in the yard they work great at holding the stick for sure! But just in a few times in the yard on a pine tree I'm already seeing fraying on the strap...
 
Too close to “buckless” for my tastes

Like the Buckless Yooper.
