I got some to these bucksteps for cheap some time ago and I am considering drilling them to reduce weight, just not sure if it would be worth the effort. As is one stick weighs 2 lbs 7 oz (1/8" aluminum construction). They are about 20" in overall length. Thinking about drilling 1/2" holes 1" o.c. on the stick and steps. I've approximated between 80 to 90 holes total. Does anybody have a resonable guesstimate on how much weight that might shave off.

I'm also considering using some versa straps to eliminate the buckles. Does anyone know if the versa strap would work on the type of hook that is on this stick?

Thanks for any input.

Love these steps! Great for platform - I'll use top or bottom step and have some with padded top step for knees. Versa straps work very well with the style shown. I've considered drilling holes in the upright posts with a drill press to lighten them up.

If its 6061 Aluminum, at 1/2" holes you should save roughly an ounce per two holes (1 hole drilled through both sides of tubing)
