No learning curve like with WEI stepps, light, sturdy when strapped tight, public land legal, and are usually available with no wait time.

Spent my first season with a saddle dedicated to the Bullmans as ROS. The cinch strap they come with did not keep 5 steps tight enough. Still not to my liking with a 1" ratchet strap. Found a 1.5" ratchet strap at home depot that did the trick. I also had added 2 screws through each step to get more bite in the tree bark. Good setup, but I wanted to get less bulk and weight packing in my sys hauler.

The Squirrel Steps looked like a solution. Then after watching some NutterBuster video of the cam style buckle getting these steps really tight on the tree, I had to try it out. I placed my order from Eastern Woods Outdoors (DanO) and found the Squirrel Steps as light as advertised, but couldn't believe the tension I was getting with the cam buckle. I also found that this small buckle was more flexible to position in trees with nobs or branches than the ratchet was.

I kept my Bullman setup and would not hesitate using it, but I'm recommending the Squirrel Steps for ROS.
