Has anyone had this problem?

After a little tree time for practice, I went to take release the ratchet strap but had spaced out the individual steps in such a way that I could not get the ratchet open all the way to 180deg. So I can't get the ratchet to release and its so tight I can't move the step on the strap enough to allow me to open the ratchet. There must be a way because even in this picture the step is right up against the ratchet.

I literally just left it up until I could figure out what to do. It's always a little harder to think and problem solve at 20ft in the air. :)

Take the handle and offset it 90 degrees and lock it in the teeth. Put tension on it like your going to tighten it down and pull the second spring loaded bar back to get it out. Then release the handle..

Open the handle part way, and use the spring loaded tabs to slowly back the one way gear back out. The gear teath look like shark fins and they are on the part that rotates the webbing around.

Push the handle to take tension off the gear stop inside/under the handle. Use your finger to hold the gear stop back and allow the handle to go back, loosening the webbing.

Man I give up. I was up that tree again today and could not work that sucker loose.

I'm going to have to buy a new one because I plan on going out in a week. Maybe buy a Predator Platform instead?

Well u got a preset now. Use a screwdriver to break the bar loose?

I'm thinking of climbing back up there (again!) and just cutting the strap and saving the ratchet and steps. Wonder what best tool/way would be to cut that thick strap...hmmmm.

It shouldn’t be that hard. Release the handle and open it until you hit the step. Then move it back just enough to engage the teeth. Then pull it like you are tightening the strap. As you hold that pressure against it reach inside and pull the spring loaded bar. Not the one on the handle side but the one closest the tree. Then while holding that bar back allow the handle tu turn back. You may have to go one tooth at a time a few times before you get enough slack to pull both bars and get it loose but it’s really not that hard. If you have any other ratchet strap around look at it and get a feel for how it works. If you cut the strap and order a new one it’ll happen again so you might as well figure it out. When you see how simple it is you’ll blush.

Dont cut, you can do this.
It's the same method that I would use for ratcheting quietly only in reverse. Would be good for you to learn if you plan on using the ratchet on hunts. Maybe someone more tech savvy than me can make a video for you. Also for weight savings and ease of use I switched over to an OCB and never looked back. Good luck
