Burned Out!!! Tips?

So season opened Oct. 15th for me, and i have around 20 sits. 0 kills and only seen 4 or 5 deer. Still learning public and its kicking my butt. Im starting to get burnt out, almost 2 years ago i made the decision to not hunt over food plots/feeders anymore. Thats also the last time I've killed a deer. Anyways what's some tips for you veteran hunters out there to not get burned out?

Spend more time scouting than you do hunting. It will pay dividends.

Our season runs Sept through Jan 31.

I take Dec off and hunt small game and scout.

Start bowhunting again in Jan with a renewed drive to kill.

Another thing i do. If i’m feeling burned out i’ll kill the first deer that gives me an opportunity, even ones i’d normally let walk. I don’t care if it’s a fawn it will not go to waste and it’s amazing what that will do to get me back in the game.

I'm going to do a large batch of chili hopefully this week or early next and will post up my process for that over in the cooking section. You can also PM me, would be happy to answer any questions about what I do to pressure can my venison.
Great, thanks!

It's ok not to go out. Try to take an honest inventory whether you'll enjoy your sit, even if it doesn't involve a kill or even seeing deer. Unless your family is going to go hungry without venison, it would do many of us good to take a deep breath and not put so much pressure on ourselves to be out there. If you take a few days off, it makes you more hungry to go back out and gives you more of an opportunity to soak up the other benefits of hunting- quiet time in the woods, alone with nature and your thoughts.

Its going to take some time to really be a hunter, scout your patch of woods, learn it like the deer know it, then figure out their habits in that patch of woods. You seen deer and thats good. Scout year round and you'll be surprised the things you learn and begin to understand. Stop reading all the commercial BS where people get paid to come up with the next great strategy for deer, or tout the next great product... be a hunter first, the rest will take care of itself. You'll see success, and when you do, it will be more satisfying than any kills you've ever made, and there will be more and more as time goes on..
You've chosen to become a hunter now. Revel in that. Its rare these days...
