Butt Puckered

So did it make a 1 stick climbing method guy outta ya?

Sorry. Hawk Helium with amsteel daisy chain. I have been using the hawks for 3 years and the daisy chain method is new although I have been using amsteel rope mode for 3 years.

The stick was solid on the way up. When climbing down I missed the step then when bring my foot back up to put it on the step my foot clipped the step and stick kicked out and fell.

I am assuming the type of tree stopped the sticks from biting into the tree and the slippery tree helped it slid so quick.

I have had modded my hawk helium's (cut off at second step) and with the amsteel daisychain, they seem to be significantly more prone to lateral movement

Glad your ok and used that tether!! Your butt pucker moment is the exact reason I choose to belay down at the end of a hunt vs using the sticks/stepps to climb down. Don't have to worry about foot placement in the dark or kick outs.

I'm working on a video for the Skylotec Lory Pro ( lineman's belt and rapel device with autolock and panic brake...this is the only device that I know of that can do both

To be honest it was not as hard as I thought it would be. I might have to practice with it a little and see how it goes. It would be nice to only carry one stick.
