Buying a new saddle

Had a TL Ambush. Good but not great comfort.
Flex now and love it. I might try a Phantom, and I got an email yesterday saying Yarak is still coming and will be out soon. Sooo...
Ugh. I haven't even owned a saddle yet but have a bad feeling I will be buying the Phantom and the Yarak and whatever new saddle Aero Hunter releases this summer.

How long does it normally take to get comfortable in a mantis? I’m having trouble with hip pinch and it riding up my back. I’m thinking of returning it and buying a flex.

Sounds like you need to make some adjustments. Shoot me a message if you want and I’ll be glad to help.

I hunted all season in a Kite, and was more comfortable than my old API grand slam climber. Comfort is highly subjective, so take it FWIW. I got Aero to add the raptor leg buckles. I have a fixed 28” predator bridge right now and don’t feel the need to change. I’m pretty lean, but I sort of have a bubble-butt *cant believe I just typed that on a hunting forum* but the build and extra room in the Kite is perfect for cupping my rotund hindquarters. Not gonna lie, the phantom or yarak may get my money one day, but it won’t be because I’m at all uncomfortable in the Kite. I’m completely satisfied. Hope this helps.
Btw, I’m 5’11, 200#, 36” pant size, size 2 Kite.
I’d DEFINITELY size up if you’re in between.

I just got a sewing machine so I am hoping to be nothing but custom from here on out. That’s the dream at least.

Plan to start with DIY Kestrel build. If I can make that work I’ll move on to the Kite and then maybe a Flex. From there I should have enough time sewing to get creative with it. Lots of great DIY saddle making mentors on here.

What sewing machine? I’ve been lurking in the local marketplace lately.

Wore the Flex all last season. First saddle I could sit all day. Loved everything but the bulk.

Have a phantom but havent tried it out yet.

Probably going to buy a Cruzr XC and see which one I like best.

Waiting on

Started with areohunter kestral used it twice cuz i wanted a Mantis. Hunted 2 full season from the Mantis. Loved it. Killed an 8pt last yr from it. And now ive had the Phantom a couple wks and have hung and shot from it a few times and love that too. I never really used the kestral enough to determine if i liked it or not. The timing of hunting season as well as ordering these saddles just worked out that way.

that's what I did. Hip pinch is a pinch and will not go away with time in a tree.... As I told Greg, it's not a bad saddle, it's just not for me. Like my comfy Flex!

This is not likely an issue you will have with a flex. Only way to know is to log some time in one
